XM in three quick facts
- Accounts: The South African site lists Standard and Ultra Low, each with a $5 minimum deposit.
- Platforms: MT4, MT5 and the XM app are listed.
- Company: XM ZA is the local intermediary; its disclosure names XM Global Limited as product supplier.
Confirm the actual minimum for your payment method. A small deposit does not limit your trading risk.
Deposits and withdrawals: simple answers
How much do I need to start?
XM’s South African account page advertises $5 for Standard and Ultra Low. This is a dollar amount, not a fixed rand price. Check the exchange rate, conversion charges and payment-method minimum shown to your account before funding.
Can I hold my account in rand?
We have not confirmed the available ZAR account settings for a South African client. Ask XM to distinguish the trading account currency from the currency accepted for deposits. See the rand account checklist →
Are withdrawals free and instant?
XM’s global help centre states it charges no deposit or withdrawal fees, but payment conditions vary. It says card and bank-wire receipts usually take 2–5 business days. Processing approval is not the same as money arriving at your bank.
This is global help-centre guidance, not a verified South African payment quote. Confirm local options, provider charges, conversion and arrival times in your account. We have not tested a withdrawal.
Which XM account should I compare?
Compare Standard with Ultra Low using the same instrument and trade size. Check the actual spread, commission and overnight charges; the account name alone does not establish which is cheaper.

Who provides the account?
XM’s South African website says XM ZA (Pty) Ltd is an intermediary, not the market maker or product issuer. It names XM Global Limited as product supplier. Confirm the contracting company and its protections in your actual agreement; group licences do not all apply to the same account. This is a broker disclosure check, not an independent register certification.
